    You don't need to know what's wrong. Describe what you can see or hear, say whether the water is off, and give us the address or at least the ZIP code.

    If it's an emergency, shut the water off at the main first. That matters more than anything you say on the phone.

  2. We find a licensed plumber who is free and works your area

    Rather than you calling down a list, we go out to the contractors who cover your ZIP code. We find one who can actually come. They hold a current California license and carry insurance.

    They're an independent business, not our staff. We don't employ plumbers and we don't perform the work.

  3. They quote you directly, and you pay them

    The plumber gives you their price and their timing. You agree it with them, and you pay them, not us. Get the number in writing before work starts.

    No charge from us at any point, and no obligation to accept the quote.

How we are paid, since somebody has to be

Contractors pay us for the calls we send them. That's the whole model. It's the same arrangement behind most of the directories and matching services you have used, and it's worth saying plainly rather than leaving you to guess.

What it means for you: the referral costs you nothing, and the plumber sets their own price the same way they would for a call that came from anywhere else. What it also means: we have an interest in you calling, so read the cost pages, get a second quote on anything large, and check the license yourself.

  • Supervise, inspect or warrant the work
  • Set or approve the price you're quoted
  • Handle your payment or hold your money
  • Employ the plumber or send them to your door as our own

What does it cost to use this?

Nothing. You pay the plumber for the work they do. Contractors pay us when we refer a call to them, which is how this is funded, and it doesn't change what you're quoted.

Am I committed once a plumber calls me back?

No. You can say no to the quote, get a second opinion, or use someone else entirely. On anything over a few hundred dollars, a second quote is a good idea anyway.

Do you check the plumbers?

We confirm that the contractors we refer to hold a current California license and carry insurance. We don't supervise their work, set their prices or guarantee the outcome, which is why you should check the license number yourself when they arrive.

What happens if nobody shows up?

Call and tell us. We'll find someone else. A no show on an emergency is worth reporting rather than waiting out.

Can I ask for a specific plumber?

You can ask, and if they cover your area and are available we'll try. Availability is the constraint, particularly at night and during the first storms of the wet season.

Do you handle the payment?

No. The money goes directly between you and the plumber. Get the price in writing before work starts, and keep the invoice.
